VCOM-Auburn Campus

Built in 2014 in the Auburn University Research Park, the VCOM-Auburn campus operates as a collaborative venture between VCOM and Auburn University.  Through this agreement, VCOM-Auburn students gain access to the amenities of a major university, while the VCOM campus itself provides the nurturing atmosphere of a small private college.

The main campus building is situated on a 16-acre campus and is approximately 100,000 square feet.  In addition to two large theatre classrooms, 20 moderately sized rooms are available for small-group learning.  The main campus building features a state-of-the-art anatomy lab, a physical exam and osteopathic manipulative medicine training lab, a library, and student study and lounge spaces.  The Simulation and Technology Center features cutting-edge, high-fidelity human medical simulators, standardized patient examination rooms, simulated surgical and intensive care unit suites, physical diagnosis and osteopathic manual therapy training labs, simulated radiology experiences, and space for additional medical education programs.

The 16-acre campus includes a walking and biking path, a small lake, and outside patios, providing students with both indoor and outdoor environments for study and activities.

Students collaborate on research projects with university faculty in our first-floor research lab and in laboratories on the Auburn University campus. We also have research collaborations with the university's Harrison School of Pharmacy, Samuel Ginn College of Engineering, College of Education, and School of Kinesiology.

While VCOM has formed a collaborative partnership with Auburn University, the degree of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine is granted and conferred solely by the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine and is not affiliated with any of VCOM’s affiliated colleges or universities, including but not limited to Virginia Tech, Auburn University, or the University of Louisiana Monroe.

Each year, the College admits between 150 and 162 medical students per class, for a total student body of 600.

Improving Healthcare in Alabama

Purpose-driven: When established, Alabama ranked in the bottom 5 out of all 50 states for both primary physicians per capita and healthcare outcomes for its citizens. VCOM's mission will change these statistics. VCOM-Auburn graduates are set to make a direct impact on Alabama's health. In the past five years, VCOM graduates have led the state's medical schools in the number of physicians practicing in medically underserved areas.
