This scholarship was established by the friends and family of Margaret and Jimmi Palmieri for OMS2, OMS3, and OMS4 students whose career plan is to practice medicine in a town with a population under 15000 in rural Virginia or Appalachia. The recipient must have successfully completed the OMS1 year at VCOM, express a strong intent to practice in an area in rural Virginia or Appalachia with a population under 15000, demonstrate a compassionate and altruistic spirit, and demonstrate financial need. Only one scholarship will be awarded annually and can only be received once.

This scholarship was established to honor and in memory of PerYngve Brolinson, D.O. It as instituted by his family, including his son, Per Gunnar Brolinson, D.O., Vice Provost of Research, and family medicine/sports medicine physician for the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) and Virginia Tech, and Gunnar's wife, Lesia Brolinson, for Virginia Campus students whose career plan is to practice medicine in a town with a population under 15,000 in rural Virginia or Appalachia. The recipient must have successfully completed Block 1 at VCOM, express a strong intent to practice in an area in rural Virginia or Appalachia with a population under 15,000, demonstrate a compassionate and altruistic spirit, and demonstrate financial need. Only one scholarship will be awarded annually and a student can only receive an award once.

This scholarship was established by the Virginia Osteopathic Medical Association (VOMA) for VCOM

students who are committed to practicing medicine in Virginia upon completion of residency. Applicants

must be currently enrolled as an OMS2 or OMS3 student at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic

Medicine – Virginia Campus, must be willing to commit to practice medicine in Virginia, and must be

active VCOM student members of VOMA and have attended a minimum of one VOMA CME conference.

Students may receive one scholarship per year in the OMS2 and OMS3 years.

Amount: Up to $5000

The ALOMA Board of directors (“Board”) shall award scholarships to applicants by majority vote. The ALOMA will award one scholarship annually for up to $5000. The dollar amount shall be set by the Board from time to time.

Applicant should be from Alabama and must indicate in writing their intention to practice medicine in Alabama following completion of their residency training. Applicant must have successfully completed their first year of training and in good standing with an AOA-accredited medical school.

Scholarships shall be awarded without regard to the gender, religious preference, race or national origin of the applicant. Financial need shall, however, be considered. No applicant shall be considered unless they have filed a written application with the Board.

Applicant should be a current member of The Alabama Osteopathic Medical Association.

Application

Provide a biographical letter containing pertinent information regarding background, how/why you’ve chosen osteopathic medicine as your profession, pre-medical education information, statement of reason/need for financial assistance. Provide reference from at least one osteopathic physician currently in practice in the State of Alabama. Official transcript of grades from an Osteopathic medical school is also needed.

Supporting your medical education is important to us, and with this in mind, AMWA awards 4 (four) $500 scholarships to women currently enrolled in medical school. Awardees will be chosen based on the embodiment of the goals of AMWA. Financial need, though not a requirement, is also considered.

The scholarship, established in 2014, is part of the law firm’s initiative to recognize medical school students who do outstanding work to promote ethnic diversity in their community.

The funds are to be used toward his or her continued education in medical school. The scholarship is available to all medical school students in the United States who work hard to promote ethnic diversity in their communities.

The scholarship will award $2000 to one student selected by our scholarship selection committee.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Applicant is an individual who demonstrates a defined commitment to issues of diversity within their community.
• Applicant is a U.S. citizen currently attending an accredited medical school within the United States.
• Academic achievement as reflected by a minimum 3.0 GPA and have completed at least one semester of classes at an accredited medical school.

The Frank and Louise Groff Foundation was created to assist students to become Registered Nurses or Medical Doctors by providing needed financial assistance for them to be able to pursue a career in medicine. This Foundation was established in 1970 under a provision of the Will of the late Louise Darby Groff, who as a nurse recognized the great physical, moral, and spiritual benefits she received from her professional training.

Awards will be made at the discretion of the Foundation's Board of Trustees without regard to race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. However, as mandated by the Groff Will, scholarships are limited to those students who have graduated from a public high school within Monmouth County, New Jersey. These scholarships are renewable for four years.

Recipients are chosen

1. On the basis of demonstrated financial need.
2. On the basis of their high school records, recommendations, and sincere interest in programs leading to certification as a Registered Nurse, a BSN, or as a Medical Doctor (MD/DO).
3. On the basis of being admitted to and maintaining satisfactory progress in a nursing program or medical school.

Health Focus administers scholarships annually to health career students. The funds are generated from grants and private endowment funds, and aid students from southwest Virginia. Our scholarship awards are based primary on financial need and potential for completing a health career program.

Awarding Process

Scholarship awards are based primarily on financial need, potential for completing a health career program, sincerity of personal statement, and availability of scholarship funds for the applicant. Funds are awarded to residents of Southwest Virginia who attend a college or university in the state of Virginia. Students will be notified by mail or email whether awarded or denied. Award checks are mailed directly to the school. Scholarships may be used for tuition, books, uniforms, and miscellaneous fees.

Foreman Fleisher established this fund in memory of his mother, Ida Fleisher, to help talented women become professionals. The fund provides scholarships for women, preferably Jewish, who wish to pursue a graduate degree. Eligibility is limited to women who have a hometown or attend school in the Greater Philadelphia area, including New Jersey and Delaware. Grant distributions, which can range from $2000-$8000, are administered by a local bank and sent directly to the chosen recipient’s school to be used for tuition only.
