James F. (Jim) Wolfe, Founding President and President Emeritus of the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM), passed away peacefully in his sleep at age 86 on Thursday, October 20th, 2022.
On Tuesday, October 11, the VCOM-Carolinas Class of 2026 students participated in an in-person, on-campus Poverty Simulation within the Preventive Medicine course. United Way of the Piedmont provides this fast-paced, interactive exercise for first-year students as a way to role-play and engage in decision-making that persons living in poverty may have to navigate. It is a very powerful experience.

Jessica Muller received the Medical Writer Certified (MWC) credential on June 15, 2022. Developed by the American Medical Writers Association and the Medical Writing Certification Committee, the MWC credentialing program is a rigorous, exam-based professional certification. Professionals who hold this credential have demonstrated their understanding of medical writing core competencies.
VCOM received a grant from the Truist Foundation to provide a month-long rotation for fourth-year medical students who plan to practice primary care medicine and who have demonstrated prior experience working with populations whose healthcare needs are underserved.
