Ray L. Morrison, DO, FACOS, DFACOS, is an AOA board-certified surgeon. He earned his DO degree from Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1986, including a 1-year Undergraduate Teaching Fellowship in osteopathic manipulation. He then completed a general surgery residency as chief resident in Springfield, Pennsylvania.

He practiced general surgery for 25 years in Tyler and Crockett, Texas. He then moved to Lynchburg, Virginia where he served as the founding chair of the Department of Surgery at Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and then transitioned to Associate Dean of Clinical Medicine. During these years, he continued his surgical practice in nearby Bedford, Virginia. In 2018 he moved to Monroe, Louisiana to become the founding Dean of the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine – Louisiana Campus. After3 years, he transitioned to become Vice-President of Advancement & Development in the Louisiana region as Dean Emeritus.

Dr. Morrison enjoyed a lengthy service opportunity with the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association, serving as a member of the House of Delegates for 21 years, including multiple years as Program Director for national continuing education conferences. He also served TOMA as Vice-Speaker, then Speaker of the House for 14 years. He continues to serve on the Board of Trustees of the American Osteopathic Association since 2009. He has served as Speaker of the AOA House of Delegates for the last 10 years. He has served on multiple local, state, and national committees and provided organizational leadership throughout his tenure in the osteopathic profession. Currently, he is the President-elect of the Sigma Sigma Phi National Grand Chapter, the national chair of the ACOS trust fund committee, and as vice-chair of the Osteopathic Political Action Committee (OPAC). He is a past President of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, and a past President of the TCOM Alumni Association. He was elected and served two terms as president of the Houston County (Crockett, Texas) Medical Association, as well as Chief of Staff in both Tyler and Crockett hospitals. Multiple committee appointments have included the American Osteopathic Association Committee on Governance and Organizational Structure, its Bureau of Federal Health Programs, and an ex-officio member to most AOA committees. Having also served as a Viet Nam era medic in the U.S. Army, Dr. Morrison recently also provided support as a liaison to the Department of Defense Innovative Readiness Training in Monroe.
