Pediatrics

The Pediatrics discipline at VCOM seeks to provide an exciting, unique experience for medical students by nurturing competent and compassionate physicians capable of caring for young patients. The purpose of the pediatric specialty is to focus on the health and care of children from infancy to adolescence. Pediatrics embraces preventive health, including careful observation of the growth and development of a child, anticipatory guidance about safety specific to each age, and acute and chronic care for neonates, infants, children, and adolescents in all areas of medical specialties.

Pediatricians are passionate advocates for young patients and are closely involved in the care of the entire family by facilitating the development of each child. This diverse group of physicians works in a variety of practice settings, medical subspecialties, and geographical regions.
