Internal Medicine and Medical Specialties

The discipline of Internal Medicine at VCOM is committed to the College's mission to provide medical education and research that prepares globally minded, community-focused physicians and to improve the health of those most in need. The goals of the program are to promote the career of internal medicine in the Appalachian region. To do this, VCOM wants to provide unsurpassed clinical instruction in community-based osteopathic internal medicine, to raise the standard of healthcare delivery in affiliated teaching medical institutions, and to perform clinical research that will improve the health of our patients.

VCOM's internal medicine faculty are passionate about medicine and medical education. These skilled physicians work with medical students in VCOM-affiliated teaching hospitals, practicing primary care internal medicine, hospital medicine, and a full range of sub-specialties. Sharing the College's mission, and leading by example, members of our faculty provide volunteer care for underserved patients in the local free clinics and international medical mission trips.
