My areas of interest are in disorders of the pelvic floor and pelvic organ prolapse especially innovations in diagnosis and treatment and monitoring post-surgery. Also interested in any issues regarding disparities in care and outcomes in female patients. My interest is also in improving medical student education.

Leading the Communications division at VCOM, Cindy has been with the College since 2006.  She brings over 40 years of experience with award-winning communications in higher education including Washington University in St. Louis, newspaper and magazine publishing corporations, printing industry, and international marketing and design experience at two global corporate positions including Bridge Information Systems (now part of Reuters), and Cardinal Health, a Fortune 20 company.

 

The skills she has brought to VCOM are built on a foundation of extensive experience and education in marketing, graphic design, web design/development, communications, and public relations.

Director for Campus Enrichment

Dr. Rodriguez is the discipline chair for epidemiology, preventive medicine, and public health curriculum for OMS I and OMSII at VCOM–Auburn. Her experience involves examining language as a mechanism of health behavior change (i.e., alcohol and substance use) among criminal justice offenders using motivational interviewing, a client-centered behavior change therapy among substance users involved in the criminal justice system. Currently, Dr. Rodriguez is focused in understanding how social determinants contribute to health disparities, specifically, how life stress and discrimination over the life course impact maternal and child health. Her goal is to contribute context of the health inequality and provide efficient and effective solutions to post-partum care and infant cognitive development.
