DO Program Tuition and Financial Aid

VCOM is the #3 most affordable private medical school in the country according to U.S. News & World Report.

2025-2026 Tuition and Fees

Tuition is the only fee paid to VCOM to participate in the DO program. VCOM has no additional or hidden fees. Listed on this page is the total estimated cost of attendance (COA), which includes tuition and estimated living and educational expenses. Because of our commitment to keeping our costs as low as possible, over the four years of your education at VCOM, you’ll save about $60,000 compared to the average cost of tuition and fees at private osteopathic medical schools.

The estimated cost of attendance varies by year in the DO program (first-year through fourth-year) based on differences in required supplies, rent, equipment, and travel. The estimated cost of attendance is the maximum amount you can borrow; however, it is not recommended to borrow this maximum amount.

VCOM strongly recommends that you budget to live under the COA budget to minimize borrowing and accommodate any unexpected or emergency expenses. By sharing expenses such as rent, utilities, and other living costs, you can significantly reduce your cost of attendance.

VCOM has the third-lowest cost of all private medical schools. Additionally, VCOM offers free health insurance to all students.

VCOM is the only school in the country with a zero percent non-payment rate (default rate) on federal loans, as listed by the Department of Education.

Federal Loans

Most students rely on federal loans to help cover the cost of medical school. To get your aid offer, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Private Loans

Private or alternative loans can bridge the gap between your total cost of attendance and other types of financial aid. We encourage you to use as much of your federal loan eligibility as possible before considering a private loan.
