The F. W. “Sonny” Merryman Jr. Family Endowed Scholarship was created by Frances T. Merryman in honor of her late husband, who was the founder of Sonny Merryman, Inc. and a huge proponent of higher education. The scholarship is awarded to second, third, and fourth year VCOM students with preference given to those from Virginia and who plan to remain in Virginia to practice primary care.
