The Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) – Carolinas Campus is nestled on the edge of beautiful, historic downtown Spartanburg, South Carolina, at the gateway to the Northside community. The college is part of the College Town Consortium, consisting of Spartanburg’s seven colleges and universities, creating a variety of social and service opportunities for students.
 
In Spartanburg, there is something for everyone. This active city offers live entertainment in and around Morgan Square, and the local farmer’s market allows everyone to enjoy the fresh produce of the area. Spartanburg is also home to a vibrant arts community where students enjoy local theatre and events, participate in workshops and browse for unique works by local artists. Great outdoor activities, fitness and leisure combine with intramural activities, running, bicycle and hiking trails to keep residents active. The city’s convenient location allows for quick travel to regional parks, mountains, beaches and lakes. Travel to and from Spartanburg is easy, as the city is close to two major airports: Charlotte, NC (CLT) is approximately one hour away, and Greenville, SC (GSP) is just a 30 minute drive from campus.

The Campus

The main campus building is approximately 70,000 square feet and is situated on a 18-acre campus. Ample parking exists for all VCOM students and faculty. Handicapped and visitor parking is available. VCOM’s information systems, provided through Virginia Tech, provide our campus community with access to information systems and resources worldwide. The classroom environment affords optimum learning conditions while demonstrating respect for both students and faculty alike. In addition to two theatre classrooms which seat 160 each, 20 moderately sized rooms are available for small group learning. 

Spartanburg, South Carolina

The City of Spartanburg has a population of 40,000 with the County comprising a total 281,000. The easy access to Interstates I-85 and I-26 allows for quick travel to parks, mountains, beaches and lakes. Within two hours, you can travel to surrounding areas like Greenville and Clemson, South Carolina and Charlotte and Asheville, North Carolina. In addition, Charleston, South Carolina and Atlanta, Georgia are three and a half hours away.

In Spartanburg, there is something for everyone. This active city shares nights of Jazz on the Square and Music on Main, live entertainment in downtown’s Morgan Square and Denny’s Plaza. Local farmer’s markets allow everyone to enjoy the local, fresh produce of the area. And, with great outdoor activities around the upstate, fitness and leisure combine with bicycle and hiking trails enough to keep anyone active.
