David Eagerton, PhD, Named Outstanding Biomedical Faculty of the Year at VCOM-Carolinas

VCOM-Carolinas has named David Eagerton, PhD, its 2025 Outstanding Biomedical Faculty of the Year, recognizing his leadership in research, teaching, and collaboration.

The award honors faculty who make an impact across multiple areas, and Eagerton’s work checks all of those boxes.

He has been deeply involved in research efforts on campus, contributing to projects in cancer biology and neurological disorders while helping secure and advance funded initiatives. His work has also led to peer-reviewed publications, adding to VCOM’s growing body of scholarly output.

At the same time, he plays a key role in the classroom and beyond it. Known for his collaborative approach, Eagerton supports both students and fellow faculty, helping build a stronger, more connected academic environment.

He is also a consistent advocate for student involvement in research, creating opportunities that allow students to engage directly in meaningful projects.

Through his combined efforts in teaching, research, and mentorship, Eagerton continues to shape the academic and research landscape at VCOM-Carolinas.
