VCOM-Carolinas Students Team Up for Outreach Donation Drive

The winning student group, A.T. Still House, with their donation box for items to be shared on upcoming medical outreach trips.

In June, the Student Government Association (SGA) and Hispanic Community Medical Outreach (HCMO) student organizations at VCOM-Carolinas hosted a 10-day donation drive to collect items for upcoming medical outreach trips. In order to encourage a bit of friendly competition on campus, SGA divided first and second year students into four “houses,” similar to the groupings in the Harry Potter novels, but named for notable osteopaths A.T. Still, Fred Mitchell, Harrison Fryette and Lawrence Jones. At the end of the collection period, the A.T. Still House came out on top with the most donations, and participating students were rewarded with a dress-down day. More than 260 items were collected from first and second year student donations throughout the drive, and will be distributed to children in need on the next VCOM-Carolinas outreach trip.
