2019 Sports Medicine Fellows

Shannon Carroll

Shannon Carroll, D.O.

Raised in Baltimore, MD where she attended Maryvale Preparatory School. She graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Science in 2009. She has worked in Endocrinology, Weight Loss & Management at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center. She attended William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine where she graduated with a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in 2015. She is completed her Family Medicine Residency as chief resident at Nassau University Medical Center in Long Island, NY. She practices in all areas of primary care, but is currently completing a fellowship in Sports Medicine with additional interest in Emergency/Urgent Care. Outside of work, she loves to spend time with family and friends, staying active and exploring cities on the weekends, and traveling anywhere a plane can fly for vacation.

Jesse Shaw

Jesse Shaw, DO

A Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellow at the VCOM/Auburn University Sports Medicine Fellowship.  He is a 2011 graduate of LECOM (Erie, Pennsylvania).  He completed a Transitional Internship at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Virginia.  After graduation he completed a high tempo operational tour with Naval Special Warfare and from there was selected for US Navy Dive School.  After completion of this physically demanding training he served as Senior Undersea Medical Officer to Marine Security Force Battalion and assisted in operational medicine of Submarine Squadron 17 and 19 as well as Naval Dive Locker Silverdale at Naval Health Branch Clinic Bangor in Silverdale, WA. Upon honorable discharge from the US Navy, Dr. Shaw completed a Family Medicine Residency at St. Petersburg General Hospital in St Petersburg, FL.

2017 Sports Medicine Fellows

John Jones, DO

John Jones, DO

Grew up in the area of Pittsburgh, PA. He graduated with honors from Carnegie Mellon University with a major in biology while completing the Navy Reserve Officer Training Corp (NROTC) Program. Dr. Jones was later commissioned as a U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Officer and completed several tours of duty in the Pacific and Mediterranean theaters. After his time in the navy Dr. Jones decided to pursue a medical career. He attended medical school at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Upon graduating from medical school, Dr. Jones went on to complete his Family Medicine Residency at Eastern CT Health Network in Manchester, CT. Following residency, he traveled to Auburn, Alabama to complete a sports medicine fellowship and worked with Auburn University and Tuskegee University sports medicine departments. After completing his sports medicine fellowship, Dr. Jones moved to Arizona and joined the Scottsdale Sports Medicine Institute.
