With the holistic and hands-on approach, osteopathic physicians have an opportunity to build long-lasting, meaningful relationships with their patients that may go beyond their health. DOs may be able to have a more personal impact on their patient because of the genuine care and interest in the other aspects of their patients’ lives.

I want to help people because

Someone once helped me. When I was young athlete and tore both of my ACLs three years apart, I had a medical team who were more than dedicated to my return to the basketball court. They helped me not only strengthen my knees, but enhance my skills to be a better player in the future. I want to help others feel the same way I felt when I was going through my hard times; that was a great feeling.

I believe osteopathic physicians are important because

With the holistic and hands-on approach, osteopathic physicians have an opportunity to build long-lasting, meaningful relationships with their patients that may go beyond their health. DOs may be able to have a more personal impact on their patient because of the genuine care and interest in the other aspects of their patients’ lives. Additionally, DOs have osteopathic manipulative therapy (OMT) in their tool belt which is useful for providing immediate relief to their patients, making them grateful immediately upon leaving the office. That skill in itself is a testament to the importance of osteopathic physicians in the lives of their patients.

For me, the most unforgettable moment in medical school was

Being a first year medical student, my most unforgettable moment in medical school was receiving my white coat after having to endure my first block and get adjusted to the new academic rigor of this profession. It made me feel as if I was meant to be here and that I indeed will be able to make my dreams come true with continued hard work and dedication.

I am interested in Sports Medicine because

I was an athlete of ten years and knows what it is like to undergo nearly career-ending injuries. I know what it feels like to watch your teammates out on the court or field and long to be out there with them. I know the physical and mental toughness it takes to undergo surgeries and rehabilitation to return to play. My love for sports and interest in medicine makes it only right that I go into sports medicine and be there and care for those athletes who may have to endure such injuries.

When I am not studying, I enjoy

When I am not studying, I enjoy going the gym and trying new recipes. They may seem contradictory, but I love to eat, but being an athlete I love to work out as well. I have come to learn over the years that there must be balance between the two! I also enjoy retail therapy when times allow for it! Beyond my leisurely activities outside of studying, I also enjoy spending time with my newly matched Little Sister through the Corporate Research Center Big Brothers Big Sisters Program.
