Dr. Ranburger was born and raised in Owensboro, Kentucky. He went to Western Kentucky University (WKU) where he competed with the WKU Men’s Swimming Team for two years and studied Chemistry and Biology. After his undergraduate training, he stayed on with the Chemistry Department, obtaining a Master's Degree with a focus in “green” organic chemistry. Then he traveled to the greater Los Angeles area in California to pursue a Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences at Western University, assisting in research on concussions. He then attended medical school at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) – Auburn campus. Most recently, he completed his Residency in Family Medicine at the University of Kentucky, where he was actively involved in the Sports Medicine and Residents as Teachers tracks, while also serving as Chief Resident in his final year prior to Fellowship.

Beyond medicine, Davis enjoys spending time with his wife, Clarisse (also a VCOM graduate), and family. You could find him outdoors, hiking, boating, at the beach, traveling, or relaxing at a brewery or concert. Davis is excited about the opportunities that VCOM-VA, Virginia Tech, and Blacksburg have in store for this next year while completing his education with the fellowship team at VCOM/Virginia Tech Sports Medicine. Go Hokies!
