Undergraduate Education: James Madison University
Medical School: Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine
Board Certification: AOBEM

Other: I became involved in education full time in 2012 when I joined the faculty at VCOM-VA; I left in 2015 to join HCA South Atlantic to build residency training programs for their various hospitals across the Division. I ended up having built 23 new ACGME programs in just under 5 years. I rejoined VCOM in 2020 as Senior Vice President.
Personal: My experience as a Division 1 football player prior to medical school has informed so much of my attitude and resilience to the challenges of medical life. I love to hike, play golf, and garden, and have been exploring RV vacationing for a few years now! My wife is a brilliant artist and singer and so my “second job” is being a groupie and patron of her amazing gifts.
Advice for a student aspiring to study medicine: A medical career is challenging and diverse and will push you to limits you didn’t realize you had. Be certain of your calling in this field and remember that the long road of training is still pretty short when you consider the timeline of a full career. Stay humble (or medicine will do that for you) and stay open to new possibilities. Whatever you find yourself doing, do it as well as you can—“Grow where you are planted.” You’ll be amazed at how many new opportunities come your way!
