The Adventure Race

Racers must negotiate the RUNNING, CYCLING, and PADDLING elements of the course. The race will consist of the following approximate distances: 1.5-mile kayak/canoe, 4-mile bike and 3-mile run.

The Pack Division

All individuals participating in this division complete every section of the race.

The Relay Division (team of three)

Only one member of the three-person team completes each section of the race.

Race Course

The Adventure Race is a three part course: Run, Bike and Kayak. The course begins with a 3-mile trail run. Racers begin at the registration area and start down State Park Road then enter onto the woods onto Bent Tree Trail. The trail loops into the woods and ends in a grass parking lot. Racers in the relay division will then tag off to their teammate for the second leg of the race. Racers competing in the Pack Division will need to have their bike line up along a fence. The second leg of the course is a 4-mile bike ride. Racers ride down Lakeview Road, loop around the campsites at the end of the road and came back around to turn left onto State Park Road, past the entrance to a left on Bear Drive. Volunteers will be on Bear Drive directing racers where to turn around. The course then loops back and ends in the grass parking lot. After completing the bike portion of the race, racers in the relay division will then tag off to their teammate for the third leg of the race. All racers completing the third leg of the race will run briefly to the boat launching area at the junction of State Park Road and Lakeview where they will enter the water for a 1.5 miles out and back. Racers row north along the shore until they are directed by volunteers to turn around. Racers should follow the string of buoys. Do not come into all the coves along the shore line and be careful not to go far out into the lake. Once back to launching area racers will need to pull their canoe/kayak out of the water and sprint to the finish line.
